The Podcasts module allows churches to publish and share audio podcast episodes, organized into podcasts with customizable images and settings, providing an engaging way to distribute sermons, teachings, or discussions.
Module Integrations #
- Sermons: Syncs podcast episodes with sermons to create audio feeds.
- People: Links podcast hosts or contributors to member profiles.
- Staff: Connects podcast hosts to staff profiles, if the Staff module is active.
- Locations: Links podcasts to specific campuses, if the Locations module is active.
- Articles: Connects episodes to related blog posts for thematic alignment.
- Beliefs: Links episodes as resources to support faith teachings.
- Events: Records event-related episodes for audio content.
- Groups: Shares episodes with group members for study or discussion.
- Ministries: Connects episodes to ministry initiatives.
- Missions: Includes missions-related episodes to promote outreach.

Module Options #
Customize the Podcasts module to control episode and feed settings.
- Navigate to Podcasts > Settings in the dashboard.
- Configure settings, such as:
- Feed Settings: Set podcast feed details (e.g., RSS feed URL, iTunes integration).
- Display Options: Choose layout for episode listings (e.g., grid or list).
- Save changes to apply settings across your website.
Content Management #
Episodes #
Description: Episodes are individual audio podcast episodes, such as sermons or teachings, organized into podcasts.
Adding:
- Go to Podcasts > Add New in the dashboard.
- Enter a title (e.g., “Faith in Action: Episode 1”) and description for the episode.
- In the episode details section:
- Select a podcast to group the episode (add new podcasts via Podcasts > Podcasts).
- Add a host or contributor (linked to a People or Staff profile).
- Upload an audio file (e.g., MP3) or provide an external audio link (e.g., SoundCloud).
- Upload a featured image for the episode listing.
- Click “Publish” to display the episode on the “Podcasts” page under Resources.
Editing:
- Go to Podcasts > All Episodes.
- Hover over the episode and click “Edit”.
- Update the title, description, podcast, host, audio file/link, or featured image.
- Click “Update” to save changes.
Deleting:
- Go to Podcasts > All Episodes.
- Hover over the episode and click “Trash”.
- To permanently delete, go to Podcasts > Trash, hover, and click “Delete Permanently”.
- Note: Deleted episodes cannot be recovered unless restored from a backup.
Episode Details: Enhance episodes with:
- Audio: Upload MP3s or link to external platforms like SoundCloud.
- Featured Image: Add an image (e.g., 800x400px) for visual appeal.
- Host Link: Connect to a People or Staff profile for visibility.
Podcasts #
Description: Podcasts categorize episodes into specific shows, with customizable images and settings for feed inclusion.
Adding:
- Go to Podcasts > Podcasts.
- Click “Add New Podcast”.
- Enter a name for the podcast (e.g., “Sunday Sermons Podcast”).
- In the podcast details section:
- Podcast Image: Upload an image (e.g., 800x800px) to represent the podcast.
- Exclude Podcast from Default Feed: Enable to exclude the podcast from the default RSS feed.
- Staff: Link to staff profiles as hosts or contributors, if the Staff module is active.
- Associated Locations: Link to specific campuses, if the Locations module is active.
- Save to add the podcast.
Editing:
- Go to Podcasts > Podcasts.
- Hover over the podcast and click “Edit”.
- Update the name, podcast image, exclude switcher, staff, or associated locations.
- Save changes.
Deleting:
- Go to Podcasts > Podcasts.
- Hover over the podcast and click “Delete”.
- Confirm deletion.
- Note: Deleting a podcast removes it from associated episodes, but episodes remain published.
Podcast Details: Enhance podcasts with:
- Podcast Image: Use a branded image for visual identity.
- Feed Control: Exclude from the default feed for targeted distribution.
- Staff and Locations: Link to relevant profiles or campuses, if modules are active.
