Description #

The Articles module adds blogging functionality by providing a way to share blog posts or resources with the world, categorized by topics or guest authors.

Module Integrations #

  • Beliefs: Links articles as resources in Basic Beliefs and Theological Distinctions, connecting doctrinal content.
  • Recommendations: Links articles as recommended resources to promote key content.
  • People: Connects articles to authors via Guest Authors or website users, linking to member profiles.
  • Testimonies: Shares topics for thematic connections, enhancing story organization.

Module Options #

Customize the Articles module to fit your church’s needs.

  1. Navigate to Church Infinite > Website Settings > Modules > Articles or Articles > Options in the dashboard.
  2. Configure display settings, such as summary length (e.g., 140 characters) for article previews.
  3. Save changes to apply settings across your website.

Content Management #

Articles #

Description: Articles are blog posts or resources for sharing news, insights, or teachings, organized by authors and topics.

Adding:

  1. Go to Articles > Add New in the dashboard.
  2. Enter a title (e.g., “Finding Peace in Faith”) and content for the article.
  3. In the article details section:
    • Select an author (Guest Author or website user).
    • Add a 140-character summary for previews.
    • Upload a featured image for visual appeal.
    • Assign topics for thematic categorization.
  4. Click “Publish” to display the article on the “Articles” page under Resources.

Editing:

  1. Go to Articles > All Articles.
  2. Hover over the article and click “Edit”.
  3. Update the title, content, author, summary, image, or topics.
  4. Click “Update” to save changes.

Deleting:

  1. Go to Articles > All Articles.
  2. Hover over the article and click “Trash”.
  3. To permanently delete, go to Articles > Trash, hover, and click “Delete Permanently”.
  4. Note: Deleted articles cannot be recovered unless restored from a backup.

Content Options: Enhance articles with:

  • Summary: Write a 140-character preview for article listings.
  • Featured Image: Upload an image (e.g., 800x400px) for visual impact.
  • Content: Include text, images, or embedded media (e.g., videos) for rich posts.

Guest Authors #

Description: Guest Authors are contributors who write articles, often from outside your church, and can be linked to member profiles.

Adding:

  1. Go to Articles > Guest Authors.
  2. Click “Add New Guest Author”.
  3. Enter the author’s name (e.g., “Dr. John Lee”).
  4. Optionally add a description or link to a People profile.
  5. Save to add the author.

Editing:

  1. Go to Articles > Guest Authors.
  2. Hover over the author and click “Edit”.
  3. Update the name, description, or People profile link.
  4. Save changes.

Deleting:

  1. Go to Articles > Guest Authors.
  2. Hover over the author and click “Delete”.
  3. Confirm deletion.
  4. Note: Deleting an author removes it from associated articles, but articles remain published.

Linking to People: Connect Guest Authors to profiles:

  1. When adding or editing, select a profile from the People module.
  2. Save to enable profile visibility on article pages (if configured).

Topics #

Description: Topics categorize articles by themes (e.g., “Faith”, “Community”), shared with Sermons, Podcasts, and Testimonies for cross-module connections.

Adding:

  1. Go to Articles > Topics.
  2. Click “Add New Topic”.
  3. Enter the topic name (e.g., “Faith”).
  4. Save to add.

Editing:

  1. Go to Articles > Topics.
  2. Hover over the topic and click “Edit”.
  3. Update the name.
  4. Save changes.

Deleting:

  1. Go to Articles > Topics.
  2. Hover over the topic and click “Delete”.
  3. Confirm deletion.
  4. Note: Deleting a topic removes it from associated articles, but articles remain published.

Cross-Module Use: Topics connect content:

  • Sermons: Categorizes sermons.
  • Podcasts: Groups episodes.
  • Testimonies: Organizes stories.
  • Topics added here are available in these modules.
